Bret Baier has re-signed a multi-year deal with FOX News Channel (FNC) where he will continue as the anchor of Special Report and lead anchor of political news coverage through the 2016 election, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of FOX News.

In making the announcement, Ailes said, “Bret’s tough but fair approach to journalism has made him one of the most trusted news anchors in the industry and an integral part of FNC’s success. I’m proud to have him at the helm of this year’s election coverage and for years to come.”

Since January 2009, Baier has served as the anchor of Special Report (6-7 PM/ET), the number one political news program on cable, averaging nearly 2 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. For the month of April, Special Report ranked as the third highest rated program in cable news among total viewers. In addition to anchoring FNC’s coverage of the 2012 Republican primaries, Baier moderated five debates among the candidates, including the highest-rated cable news debate in Orlando, Florida. He will report live from both the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention in the fall, and lead the network’s election night coverage.

Baier added, “I am humbled by Roger’s trust and confidence and look forward to carrying out his vision for FNC — a commitment to breaking news, asking tough questions, and doing it in a fair and balanced way.”

As anchor of Special Report, Baier has secured numerous interviews with top newsmakers, including President Obama in the week leading up to the historic healthcare vote. Additionally, he has interviewed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, former President George W. Bush, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and General David Petraeus, among many others. He also sat down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in anticipation of key peace talks at the United Nations; Polish President Lech Kaczynski days after the U.S. decision to abort missile defense plans in Poland; and Georgian President Mikheul Saakashvili after the Russian invasion of Georgia.

Baier took over Special Report from veteran anchor Brit Hume, who now serves as a senior political analyst for FNC. Prior to that role, he was Chief White House Correspondent, where he covered President Bush from 2006-2009. He also served as National Security Correspondent reporting on military and national security affairs at the Pentagon from 2001-2006, which included the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. On September 11th, he notably traveled from Atlanta to report on the attacks from the Pentagon and has remained in Washington ever since.

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. A top five cable network, FNC has been the most watched news channel in the country for ten years and according to Public Policy Polling, is the most trusted television news source in the country. Owned by News Corp., FNC is available in more than 90 million homes and dominates the cable news landscape, routinely notching the top ten programs in the genre.

Bill O’Reilly has re-signed a multi-year deal with FOX News Channel (FNC) to continue hosting The O’Reilly Factor, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of FOX News.

In making the announcement, Ailes said, “Bill’s immense talent, intellect and raw convictions are an extremely rare combination in television and exemplify why The O’Reilly Factor has been the number one program in cable news for more than a decade. He is a tremendous force in the business and has helped to make FOX News the success story it is today.”

O’Reilly added, “It’s been great fun in challenging the establishment and exposing the corruption across the nation. The Factor takes pride in holding people accountable and I especially look forward to the exciting news cycle ahead. FOX News has become the primary force in television news under Roger’s leadership and I’m delighted to continue there for years to come.”

Joining FNC in 1996, O’Reilly initially served as host of The O’Reilly Report, which was re-named The O’Reilly Factor when it moved to primetime in 1998. According to Nielsen Media Research, the show has been number one in its 8PM/ET timeslot for 136 consecutive months. Additionally, it has been the most-watched program in all of cable news for 125 consecutive months, having eclipsed Larry King Live in 2000 while dominating every single contender in the genre. Currently averaging 4.5 million viewers daily, the program consistently out rates CNN, MSNBC and HLN combined in both viewership and the 25-54 demographic.

Throughout his reign, O’Reilly continues to be one of the most controversial and frequently discussed television news commentators today. During his more than 15 year tenure at FNC, O’Reilly has conducted countless interviews with prominent newsmakers, including: President Barack Obama, presidential candidate Governor Mitt Romney, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President George W. Bush, Jon Stewart, Howard Stern, Rosie O’Donnell, Bono, Stephen Colbert and Michael Moore. The Factor has also taken on numerous issues including the mismanagement of the United Way funds following the September 11th terrorist attacks and Jessica’s Law, where O’Reilly led the crusade in calling on every state to pass a version of the law to protect children from sexual predators.

Prior to joining FNC in 1996, he anchored the nationally syndicated program, Inside Edition for six years. His seasoned career in broadcast journalism also includes stints at CBS News, where he was awarded with an Emmy for outstanding investigative reporting, as well as ABC News’ World News Tonight, where his work was recognized with two National Headliner Awards for excellence in reporting. Over the past 10 years, O’Reilly has notably authored six New York Times bestsellers, including the most recent, Killing Lincoln, which was number one on the Times’ list for four consecutive weeks and is currently being adapted into a movie. Additionally, he has written several other New York Times number one bestsellers, including Culture Warrior, The O’Reilly Factor and The No Spin Zone. He is also the author of A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, The O’Reilly Factor for Kids and Those Who Trespass.

FOX News Channel (FNC) achieved a rare television milestone today in clinching ten years as the number one news network in cable television. Having surpassed CNN in January 2002, FNC has now reigned over the cable news universe for an entire decade while continuing to outpace both CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewership, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Remarking on the feat, FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said, “We are extremely proud of the phenomenal achievement created by the hard work and talent of the FOX News Channel employees and recognize how difficult it is for a cable network to sustain this level of dominance for a decade. America has clearly embraced fair and balanced news.”

Ten years since becoming number one, FNC has sustained a 147% advantage over CNN and a 144% advantage over MSNBC in Total Day viewership. In Adults 25-54, FNC beat CNN by 92% and MSNBC by 101%. Meanwhile, in Primetime, FNC has surpassed CNN by 131% in total viewers and 58% in A25-54 while overtaking MSNBC by 142% in total viewers and 105% in A25-54, according to the Nielsen averages for January 2012.

In Primetime for January 2012, FNC averaged 1,942,000 viewers, an increase of 78% since January 2002 when the network averaged 1,091,000. In fact, the Primetime ratings FNC achieved in 2002 after becoming number one eclipse what CNN and MSNBC are currently averaging today in 2012 (841,000 and 801,000 viewers respectively). Additionally, FNC’s current 2012-to-date Primetime average beat CNN and MSNBC combined.

During the January Nielsen month, FNC had a clean sweep of the top 13 programs based on total viewers with each of its programs besting its timeslot cable news competitors. The network also claimed nine out of the top ten programs based on Adults 25-54 in cable news. Furthermore, while having dominated the cable news landscape for the past decade, FNC ranked overall fifth this past month, according to Nielsen, only behind ESPN, USA, History and TBS (CNN and MSNBC ranked 23rd and 27th respectively).

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. A top five cable network, FNC has been the most watched news channel in the country for ten years and according to Public Policy Polling, is the most trusted television news source in the country.

FOX News Channel’s (FNC) ensemble opinion show, The Five, has been picked up as a scheduled program for the network’s 5 PM/ET timeslot, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of the network. The lively roundtable of five co-hosts will be comprised of rotating FNC personalities Dana Perino, Bob Beckel, Eric Bolling, Juan Williams, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Greg Gutfeld and Andrea Tantaros.

In making the announcement, Ailes, who created the show, said “The Five is unlike any show in news and politics, from the co-hosts’ chemistry to the provocative, yet fun presentation style. It has quickly connected with the audience, and I’m pleased to install it in our daily lineup.”

The Five originally began as a summertime replacement program for Glenn Beck in July and has steadily increased viewership since its debut. According to Nielsen Media Research, the program was the sixth most-watched show in cable news with an average of 1.4 million total viewers in the third quarter of 2011.

Since its launch, The Five’s total viewership has increased by 16 percent, to nearly 1.5 million viewers in the Nielsen month of October to date. In the key 25-54 demographic, the program is up by 26 percent, averaging 349,000 viewers this month to date, drawing national advertisers back into the 5 PM timeslot.

Paul Rittenberg, Executive Vice President of Ad Sales for FOX News added, “The Five’s viewership growth and unique appeal has led to the time period once again being embraced by FNC’s Blue Chip advertisers.”

FOX News has signed CNN’s Ed Henry as Chief White House correspondent, announced Michael Clemente, Senior Vice President of News Editorial for the network. He will be responsible for covering all facets of the White House, including the President’s domestic and international activities.

In making the announcement, Clemente said, “We’ve been impressed with Henry’s reporting for a long time and are proud he’s joining the FOX News team where his tenacity and hard news instincts will continue to strengthen the network’s core journalistic assets.”

FOX News’ Washington bureau will undergo additional changes in coverage beats with Henry assuming his new role, including the following transitions: Wendell Goler has been promoted to Senior White House and Foreign Affairs correspondent where he will take on additional responsibilities covering the State Department; Mike Emanuel has been named Chief Congressional correspondent providing coverage of the House and Senate, as well as breaking news on Capitol Hill; James Rosen becomes Chief Washington correspondent reporting on major Beltway stories and how they impact the country; and Carl Cameron continues in his role as Chief Political correspondent, covering congressional, gubernatorial, and presidential elections for FOX News.

An award-winning journalist, Henry has covered various beats for CNN since 2004. Most recently, he served as Senior White House correspondent and received praise for his reporting on the Bush administration’s contradictory assertions regarding senior Iranian officials sending improvised explosive devices to Iraq. That led him to win the White House Correspondents’ Association’s Merriman Smith Award for excellence in presidential coverage under deadline in 2008.

Prior to reporting on the President and its administration, Henry was a Congressional correspondent where he broke the news that Dubai Ports World would not move forward with its plan to take control over six U.S. ports. During that time, he received the Everett Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress from the National Press Foundation. In 2004, Henry reported from the campaign trail throughout CNN’s coverage of the presidential race, focusing on then Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry.

Before his tenure at CNN, Henry was a print journalist at Roll Call for eight years where he served as a senior editor and a columnist. While at the Capitol Hill newspaper, Henry was also a contributing editor at Washingtonian magazine and a chief political analyst for WMAL-AM, ABC News Radio’s Washington affiliate. He began his career as an investigative reporter, working alongside renowned journalist Jack Anderson for five years, with stints as a television analyst at C-SPAN and WUSA-TV (CBS).

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. A top five cable network, FNC has been the most watched news channel in the country for nearly ten years and according to Public Policy Polling, is the most trusted television news source in the country.
