BILL HEMMER SIGNS MULTI-YEAR DEAL WITH FOX NEWS CHANNEL

FOX News Channel (FNC) has re-signed Bill Hemmer to a multi-year contract where he will continue hosting America’s Newsroom with Martha MacCallum in addition to other significant duties at the network, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of FOX News. Along with his 9-11AM/ET weekday news program, Hemmer had also agreed this past September to host the 1PM/ET hour on a temporary basis until the debut of a new show in that timeslot.

In making the announcement, Ailes said, “Bill Hemmer is a fantastic all-around newsman and a tremendous talent. One of his great gifts is his ability to work so well with everyone — there isn’t an hour in our news lineup that Bill couldn’t anchor. He’s the consummate team player.”

Hemmer added, “There is no better boss in America than Roger Ailes. I’m proud to work for him and my wonderful, hardworking colleagues at FNC.”

Joining FNC in August of 2005, Hemmer has covered numerous breaking news events during his tenure with the network, including, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Newtown school shootings, the earthquake in Haiti and every national election during that eight year timeframe.  Prior to FNC, Hemmer spent 10 years at CNN where he served as co-anchor of American Morning and anchor of both CNN Live Today and CNN Tonight. A recipient of several awards, including an Emmy in 1996, Hemmer began his career as a weekend sports anchor for WCPO-TV (CBS) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned a B.A. in broadcast journalism from Miami University in Ohio.
