FNC Marks Highest-Rated State of the Union Address in the History of Cable News
Combined FNC Properties Beat All NBC Properties
According to early Nielsen Media Research, FOX News Channel (FNC) was the top-rated network in all of television for coverage of the 2018 State of the Union address, averaging 11.5 million in total viewers and 3.3 million in the 25-54 demographic for the duration of the address (9PM-10:30PM/ET). Co-anchored by Special Report’s Bret Baier and The Story’s Martha MacCallum, FNC even dominated all of the broadcast networks in both categories, out-rating both NBC and MSNBC combined. *See numbers below. The special coverage also marked the highest-rated State of the Union address in the history of cable news. FNC’s last record was in 2006 with 6.5 million in total viewers and in 2003 with 2.5 million in the 25-54 demo.
Additionally, Fox News digital page views were up 30% percent in comparison to the 2016 State of the Union address with uniques up 62% percent and video views more than doubling, according to Adobe Analytics.
