FOX NEWS TO LAUNCH NEW VOTER ANALYSIS POLLING SYSTEM
NEW YORK – May 15, 2018 – FOX News will launch a new polling system to provide results for the November 2018 U.S. midterm elections entitled, the FOX News Voter Analysis, announced Jay Wallace, president of news for FOX News Channel (FNC). The network and The Associated Press will collaborate as survey partners to provide a more comprehensive look at voting trends.
In making the announcement, Wallace stated, “Our 2017 tests with the AP and NORC, show we’ve created a state-of-the-art tool for understanding the actions and attitudes of all Americans on Election Day. By combining poll data with timely information on registered voters and actual vote results — the Fox News Voter Analysis will provide the best possible report on American elections. Most important, we will provide in-depth coverage of every statewide election in 2018 and 2020, which will be particularly valuable as we expand our digital coverage.”
As part of the Fox News Voter Analysis, researchers will poll voters using multiple platforms, including cell phones, landlines, and the internet. The surveys, which are designed to capture voter sentiment surrounding the key issues, will provide a more comprehensive look at voting behavior, opinions and preferences as America votes.
FOX News and AP worked with NORC at the University of Chicago to demonstrate the potential of this approach in the Alabama special election for U.S. Senate, and in the 2017 gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia. As a survey partner with AP, FOX News will collaborate in designing the questionnaires and refining the methodology.
