FOX NEWS CHANNEL TOPS ALL BROADCAST AND CABLE NEWS IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR MIDTERM ELECTION COVERAGE
FNC Delivers Highest-Rated Midterm Coverage in Cable News History
FNC was also the Most Engaged News Brand on Social Media
FOX News Channel (FNC) topped all of broadcast and cable news networks for coverage of the 2018 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 6th in total viewers, in addition to delivering the highest-rated midterm coverage in cable news history with total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Co-anchored by Special Report’s Bret Baier and The Story’s Martha MacCallum, FNC averaged 7.8 million in total viewers and 2.4 million in the 25-54 demo from 8PM/ET-11PM/ET, beating NBC (5.7 million P2+; 2.3 million 25-54), ABC (5.3 million P2+; 2 million 25-54), CBS (3.9 million P2+; 1.3 million 25-54), CNN (5.1 million P2+; 2.5 million 25-54) and MSNBC (4.8 million P2+; 1.4 million 25-54) in total viewers, and coming in second overall in the 25-54 demo. For the 6PM-1AM/ET hours, FNC once again topped CNN and MSNBC in total viewers, and beat MSNBC in the 25-54 demo. *Data below.
FOX News Digital also delivered its highest number of page views (125.6 million), uniques on the mobile app (3.7 million), uniques on OTT devices (273,000) and time spent on OTT (26.1 million minutes) this year, according to data from Adobe Analytics. Additionally, November 6th was FOX News Digital’s highest day of Politics page views (33.9 million), uniques (8.8 million) and video starts (4.9 million) this year.
On Social Media, FOX News was the most engaged news brand on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and drove 45% more engagement than CNN and MSNBC combined, according to data from Socialbakers. Additionally, on Facebook among the competitive news set, FOX News accounted for 30% of all native video views and 50% of all live video views, almost doubling the nearest news competition (ABC News) in live video views.
