FOX WEATHER NAMES HALEY MEIER AS INAUGURAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY

NEW YORK – April 11, 2022 – FOX Weather, FOX News Media’s free ad-supported streaming television (“FAST”) weather service, in partnership with Mississippi State University, has named Haley Meier as the inaugural recipient of its scholarship program, announced Sharri Berg, president of the service. The scholarship, which was announced by FOX Weather in November 2021, is part of a long-term partnership designed to support candidates in their pursuit of a career in broadcast meteorology.

In making the announcement, Berg said, “We are proud to recognize Haley Meier as our first Mississippi State University scholarship recipient. As we look to foster the next generation of broadcast meteorologists, we are confident this scholarship will help students take the next step in chasing their dreams.”

Meier added, “I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to work with such an entrepreneurial organization that is committed to the advancement and continued innovation of meteorological sciences.”

Meier is currently a junior at Mississippi State University majoring in broadcast meteorology. In addition to being a full-time student, she also serves as a weekend morning meteorologist for WTVA-TV in Tupelo, Mississippi. In this capacity, she provides weather forecasting, which includes creating informative graphics as well as engaging with the community on behalf of the station. Meier is also treasurer of the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society, the Vice President and Commander of Mississippi’s Chapter of The Hidden Opponent Organization and is a former member of the Mississippi State women’s soccer team.

The scholarship will be applied to Meier’s 2022-23 school year. Part of a long-term partnership between the service and Mississippi State University to support the future of the meteorology industry, the endowment is set up in perpetuity and features a FOX Weather internship along with a dedicated FOX Weather meteorologist to serve as a mentor throughout the process. Preference for the scholarship was given to upper-level undergraduates with a proven academic achievement record of a 3.0 GPA or higher.
