FOX NEWS MEDIA TO PRESENT FENTANYL: THE POISONING OF AMERICA
FOX News Media will offer a new investigative series across several platforms throughout the summer entitled Fentanyl: The Poisoning of America. Launching this week, the series will feature a number of reports offering a closer look at the fentanyl crisis that is sweeping the nation. With more than 100,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States during a 12-month period, there has been a 30% increase versus the prior year per the CDC. This series will aim to uncover why and tell the story of those impacted. FOX News Media will dive into the production of “precursor chemicals” in China, to the role of the Mexican cartels and the use of social media to make access to this deadly drug easier than ever before.
FOX News contributor Dr. Marc Siegel kicked off the series through the story of Zach Didier on FOX News Channel’s (FNC) The Story. Dr. Siegel was joined by Zach’s mother, Laura as she shared her son’s tragic journey from a 17-year old straight “A” student with a limitless future to finding him dead after he received a counterfeit pill made of fentanyl. Today, the Didiers have joined the ranks of families across the country whose new mission is to warn about the drug killing often unsuspecting people in record numbers.
FOX News Media operates the FOX News Channel (FNC), FOX Business Network (FBN), FOX News Digital, FOX News Audio, FOX News Books, the direct-to-consumer streaming services FOX Nation and FOX News International and the free, ad-supported television service FOX Weather. Currently the number one network in all of cable, FNC has also been the most watched television news channel for more than 20 consecutive years, while FBN ranks among the top business channels on cable. Owned by Fox Corporation, FOX News Media reaches 200 million people each month.
