MSNBC and CNN Continue to Implode as MSNBC Posts Lowest Rated Week in Over 25 Years while CNN Sees Lowest Week Ever with Adults 25-54

‘The Five’ Outpaces NBC’s SNL with Viewers

NEW YORK – November 19, 2024 – During the week of November 11-17, FOX News Channel (FNC) triumphed posting the highest share of the cable news audience with total day in the network’s 28 year history across viewers and the younger demos. Drawing in 69% share in total day (6 AM-6 AM/ET) and 72% share with primetime (8-11 PM/ET), FNC swept the competition in every hour with viewers and the 25-54 demo. In primetime (8-11 PM/ET) from Monday-Sunday, FNC earned 3 million viewers and 360,000 in the 25-54 demo. In total day, Monday-Sunday (6 AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 1.9 million viewers and 236,000 in the 25-54 demo. FNC blew CNN and MSNBC out of the water with the network’s 194th consecutive weekly win with total day viewers and the 185th consecutive week with 25-54 viewers in daytime programming.

For the first full week following the election, MSNBC delivered its lowest-rated week in over 25 years during total day in the A25-54 demographic as viewers continued to flee the network. From November 11th-17th, MSNBC lost 50% of its audience when compared to 2024 so far. The network averaged 45,000 in A25-54 and 487,000 viewers in total day, falling 43% versus its yearly average to date. In primetime, the network sank to 684,000 viewers and 65,000 in A25-54, down 48% and 54% with viewers and the younger demo respectively. Additionally, MSNBC dropped to a new historical low with several programs marking their lowest-rated shows ever. From 6 AM-12 AM/ET, every morning, daytime and primetime FNC program outpaced each hour on MSNBC with viewers and A25-54, including The Rachel Maddow Show

During the week, CNN saw an all-time network weekly low with total day demo viewers, nabbing an embarrassing 58,000 A25-54. Additionally, the network’s woes continued as it saw double digit percentage drops across the board with both total day compared to its yearly average to date (33% drop with viewers; 39% drop with A25-54; 44% drop with A18-49) and primetime (36% drop with viewers; 43% drop with A25-54; 50% drop with A18-49).

FNC’s daytime programming continued its reign over the competition as Outnumbered (weekdays 12 PM/ET; 2.4 million P2+), The Story (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 2.3 million P2+), The Faulkner Focus (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 2.2 million P2+), America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 2.2 million P2+) and America Reports (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 2.2 million P2+) each surpassed CBS Mornings (2.1 million viewers), NBC’s TODAY Third Hour (1,945,000 P2+), NBC’s Today with Hoda and Jenna (1,365,000 P2+) ABC’s GMA3 (1,253,000 P2+), CBS’ The Talk (1,221,000 P2+) and NBC News Daily (1,160,000 P2+). 

For the week, The Five averaged a whopping 4.4 million viewers and 480,000 in the 25-54 demo, leading all of television. Notably, the program beat SNL with viewers. At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 3.3 million viewers and 402,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle saw 3.4 million viewers and 416,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime delivered 4.1 million viewers and 474,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 3.3 million viewers and 398,000 with A25-54. At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 1.9 million viewers and 281,000 in the 25-54 demo. FNC’s Gutfeld! continued to lead all late-night television across the board. For the week, Gutfeld! drew 3.4 million viewers and 501,000 in the 25-54 demo, placing first with the younger demo. The program crushed CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (1.8 million P2+; 321,000 A25-54), ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1.5 million P2+; 220,000 A25-54), NBC’s The Tonight Show (1.3 million P2+; 379,000 A25-54) and Late Night with Seth Meyers (823,000 P2+; 203,000 A25-54).

Over the weekend, FNC won every hour with viewers and the 25-54 demo. On Saturday, Life, Liberty & Levin (weekends, 8 PM/ET) was the most-watched show of the day with 1.8 million viewers, while FOX & Friends Weekend (weekends, 6-10 AM/ET) PM/ET) led the way in the 25-54 demo with 207,000 viewers and FOX Report with Jon Scott (weekends, 6 PM/ET) nabbed 1.6 million viewers and 187,000 A25-54). On Sunday, Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures (Sunday, 10 AM/ET) dominated cable news, averaging 1.9 million viewers and 205,000 in the 25-54 demo. Life, Liberty & Levin (1.6 million viewers; 119,000 A25-54) and Media Buzz (Sundays, 11 AM/ET; 1.6 million P2+; 196,000 A25-54) placed second with viewers and the 25-54 demo respectively. At 9 PM/ET, Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy posted 1.5 million viewers and 106,000 in the younger demo.
