FOX BUSINESS NETWORK EXPANDS REIGN OVER CNBC WITH THIRD CONSECUTIVE MONTHLY BUSINESS DAY AND MARKET HOURS WIN
FBN Outpaces Competition Delivering Top Five Business Programs, While CNBC Posts Lowest-Rated Rated Month Since 1995 with Viewers
‘The Claman Countdown’ Scores First Monthly Win Over ‘The Closing Bell’ Since 2022
NEW YORK – July 29, 2025 — FOX Business Network (FBN) closed the month of July as the highest rated business network, outpacing CNBC across business day and market hours, according to Nielsen Media Research. FBN remained the go-to network for business news, delivering the top five business programs with viewers, while CNBC drew its lowest rated month since September 1995. Notably, The Claman Countdown scored its first win over CNBC’s The Closing Bell since 2022.
Leading the month of July as business news’ highest-rated program, FBN’s Kudlow (weekdays, 4 PM/ET), helmed by Larry Kudlow, delivered 285,000 total viewers, a 146% advantage over CNBC’s 116,000 viewers. This marked the 27th consecutive month that Kudlow has been the number one rated business program and the 46th straight month it has outpaced CNBC’s Closing Bell. FBN’s signature market-open program Varney & Co. (weekdays, 9 AM-12 PM/ET) placed second in the business program ranker with 243,000 viewers across its three hours, outperforming CNBC’s Money Movers/Squawk on the Street with a 74% advantage.
Kicking off the day with pre-market coverage, Maria Bartiromo’s Mornings with Maria (weekdays, 6-9 AM/ET) averaged 117,000 viewers, besting CNBC’s Squawk Box by a 58% advantage. The Big Money Show (weekdays, 12-2 PM/ET) scored 174,000 viewers and Making Money with Charles Payne (weekdays 2 PM/ET) drew 151,000 viewers, outpacing CNBC’s Power Lunch for the second time in 2025. Liz Claman’s The Claman Countdown (weekdays, 3 PM/ET) notched 167,000 viewers, besting CNBC’s The Closing Bell in its first monthly win since 2022. Notably each of FBN’s daytime programs were among the top 10 shows on business television with viewers. Additionally, The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald (weekdays, 5 PM/ET; 187,000 viewers) and The Bottom Line (weekdays, 6 PM/ET; 140,000 viewers) outranked CNBC’s respective programming for the 17th consecutive month with viewers. The Evening Edit eclipsed CNBC’s Fast Money, posting a 105% advantage while The Bottom Line dominated with a 59% advantage. Additionally, Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street (Fridays, 7-7:30 PM/ET) scored a 185% advantage over CNBC’s American Greed/Shark Tank (FBN: 97,000 viewers vs. CNBC: 34,000 viewers). Barron’s Roundtable (Fridays, 7:30-8 PM/ET) saw a 29% advantage with 62,000 viewers for the month.
Rounding out the month, FBN’s total day programming (124,000 viewers; 10,000 A25-54) scored its 16th straight monthly win with viewers over CNBC. For the third back-to-back month, the network delivered wins among business day (9:30 AM-5 PM/ET) and market hours with total viewers. In business day, the network saw 199,000 viewers and 12,000 A25-54 viewers while FBN’s market hours (9 AM-4 PM/ET) saw 192,000 viewers; 12,000 A25-54.
FBN ended July delivering two of the top 10 cable news programs with affluent audiences among the 25-54 demo. FBN’s 5-6 AM simulcast of FOX Weather First co-anchored by Britta Merwin and Craig Herrera, which marked its one-year anniversary on FOX Business in July, drew in $162,500, the highest 25-54 median income for July. Varney & Co. followed in second place with audiences with an average median income of $148,900. Mornings with Maria and The Big Money Show rounded out the top 20 programs with median incomes of $126,000 or more.
