FBN Secures Seven of the Top Ten Business Programs with Total Viewers

‘Kudlow’ and ‘Varney & Co.’ Ranked as the Top Two Business Programs

CNBC Delivers Its Lowest Rated Month with Primetime Viewers and the Demo in Over 30 Years  

NEW YORK – September 3, 2025 — FOX Business Network (FBN) dominated its competition posting double-digit advantages in business day, market hours and weekday total day viewers during the month of August, according to Nielsen Media Research. The network secured seven of the top ten business programs with total viewers and Kudlow and Varney & Co. continued to rank as the top two programs in business news. Notably, CNBC delivered its lowest rated month in total viewers in primetime since 1992 and younger viewers since 1991.

FBN posted double-digit gains over CNBC with total viewers in business day (227,000 viewers) seeing a 55% advantage, market hours (219,000 viewers) with a 47% advantage and weekday total day (138,000 viewers) nabbing a 55% advantage. In primetime viewers, CNBC saw its lowest rated month in over three decades with total viewers (86,000 viewers) and younger viewers (20,000 A25-54) since 1992 and 1991 respectively. 

Among total viewers, FBN secured seven of the top ten business programs with Kudlow and Varney & Co. as the top two business programs in television. Helmed by Larry Kudlow, the eponymous Kudlow (weekdays, 4 PM/ET) beat its competition Closing Bell with a 126% advantage (298,000 viewers) for the 47th consecutive month. FBN’s market-open program Varney & Co. (weekdays, 9 AM-12 PM/ET) outperformed Squawk on the Street/Money Movers with an 81% lead (270,000 viewers) marking its 42nd straight win.  

Beginning the day with pre-market coverage, Maria Bartiromo’s Mornings with Maria (weekdays, 6-9 AM/ET) saw a substantial advantage (56%) over Squawk Box, nabbing 123,000 total viewers vs. Squawk Box’s 79,000 total viewers and marking the program’s fourth consecutive monthly win. For the third time in the show’s history, The Big Money Show (weekdays, 12-2 PM/ET) outpaced CNBC’s Fast Money Halftime Report & The Exchange with total viewers with a 24% difference (189,000 viewers). Daytime programs Making Money with Charles Payne (weekdays, 2 PM/ET; 167,000 viewers) saw a 18% advantage while Liz Claman’s The Claman Countdown (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 177,000 viewers) notched a 19% advantage over their respective hourly competitors Power Lunch and Closing Bell

FBN’s post-market program The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald (weekdays, 5 PM/ET; 198,000 viewers) dominated CNBC’s Fast Money with a whopping 108% advantage, the program’s 18th consecutive monthly victory. Additionally, The Bottom Line (weekdays, 6 PM/ET; 153,000 viewers) outranked Mad Money for the 18th straight month with a 101% advantage. Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street (Fridays, 7-7:30 PM/ET; 82,000 viewers) posted a 78% advantage over CNBC’s Shark Tank, while Barron’s Roundtable (Fridays, 7:30-8 PM/ET) saw a 24% lead with 56,000 viewers for the month.
