FOX WEATHER NAMES JAKE KASITZ AS FIFTH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY
NEW YORK – June 11, 2026 – FOX Weather, FOX News Media’s free ad-supported streaming television (“FAST”) weather service, in partnership with Mississippi State University (MSU), has named Jake Kasitz as the fifth recipient of its annual scholarship program, announced Sharri Berg, president of the service. As part of the scholarship, Kasitz will intern with FOX Weather during the 2026-2027 school year as well as be mentored by meteorologist Ian Oliver.
In making the announcement Berg said, “We are proud to recognize Jake Kasitz as the fifth recipient of our scholarship in partnership with Mississippi State University. We welcome him to a growing group of talented young meteorologists who represent the future of our industry as we remain committed to supporting the next generation of weather professionals through mentorship and hands-on experience.”
Kasitz added, “It is an honor to be chosen as this year’s FOX Weather Scholarship recipient. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities this program provides and excited to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of meteorology and am eager for what lies ahead.”
Kasitz is a rising senior at MSU studying Meteorology and minoring in Geographic Information Systems and Math. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society where he was named a technology committee member and chair in 2025. Kasitz will intern for the National Weather Service in summer of 2026 and has served as an ambassador of MSU’s College of Arts and Sciences since 2024. He has also contributed to research studies at MSU, The University of Arizona, University of Florida and in 2022 was selected to participate in Florida State University’s Young Scholars Program. In 2023, Kasitz graduated from Oak Hall School in Gainesville, Florida.
The scholarship was created in November 2021 as part of a long-term partnership between FOX Weather and Mississippi State University to support students pursuing a career in meteorology. It offers financial aid, mentorship and the opportunity to serve as an intern for FOX Weather. The recipient is preferred to be an undergraduate with a proven academic achievement record of a 3.0 GPA or higher. Inaugural recipient Haley Meier joined FOX Weather as an on-air meteorologist upon graduation in 2023 and last year’s recipient Isabelle Stewart will serve as an intern in summer 2026, working in the network’s New York headquarters with FOX Weather meteorologist Steve Bender serving as her mentor. Mark Kimoto, the second annual scholarship recipient, interned with FOX Weather in the summer of 2024 while Sadie Morris, the third annual scholarship recipient, interned with FOX Weather during summer 2025 and currently works for James Spann’s Alabama Weather Network as a full-time meteorologist.
