FOX BUSINESS NETWORK’S KUDLOW AND VARNEY & CO. CONTINUE AS MOST-WATCHED PROGRAMS IN BUSINESS NEWS DURING JULY
FBN Delivers Seven of the Leading 15 Business News Shows During Month of July
FBN Secures Most-Watched Month in Primetime Since November 2020
NEW YORK – August 1, 2023 — FOX Business Network (FBN)’s market open and close programs Kudlow (weekdays, 4 PM/ET) and Varney & Co. (weekdays, 9 AM – 12 PM/ET) dominated all of business news with viewers for the month of July. The network also notched seven of the top 15 business news programs, according to Nielsen Media Research. Year-over-year, FBN saw double-digit gains across the board in primetime, securing its most-watched month since November 2020 in the primetime (8-11 PM/ET), while CNBC saw double-digit declines.
Leading the month of July as business news’ highest-rated program, FBN’s post-market show Kudlow, helmed by Larry Kudlow, delivered 258,000 total viewers, a 51% advantage over CNBC’s 171,000 viewers. This marked the 22nd consecutive month that Kudlow has outpaced CNBC’s Closing Bell. FBN’s signature market-open program Varney & Co., hosted by Stuart Varney, placed second in the business program ranker with 221,000 viewers, outperforming CNBC’s Squawk on the Street for the 17th consecutive month with a 15% advantage.
Kicking off the day with pre-market coverage, Maria Bartiromo’s Mornings with Maria (weekdays, 6-9 AM/ET) bested CNBC’s Squawk Box in the critical 6AM/ET pre-market hour. CAVUTO: Coast to Coast with Neil Cavuto (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 138,000 P2+), The Big Money Show (weekdays, 1 PM/ET; 122,000 P2+), Making Money with Charles Payne (weekdays 2 PM/ET; 139,000 P2+), and The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald (weekdays 6 PM/ET; 147,000 P2+) and The Claman Countdown (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 151,000 P2+) all placed among the top 15 shows on business television with total viewers.
Rounding out the month, FBN’s Business Day programming (9:30 AM-5 PM/ET) drew in 179,000 total viewers and 14,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, while the network’s Market Hours programming (9 AM-4 PM/ET) netted 171,000 total viewers and 13,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo. Notably, FBN’s primetime programming (8-11 PM/ET), FBN Prime, saw double and double-digit year-over-year growth averaging 103,000 viewers, while CNBC saw double digit declines year-over-year. Meanwhile, American Built (Mondays, 8 PM/ET) continues to attract the most affluent audience in cable news with A25-54 this year with viewer’s median income averaging $195,400. In the month of July, FBN had four of the top ten shows in cable news with median income in the 25-54 demo.
